Churna pinda sweda or Podi kizhi is a specialized therapy for the diseases related to bone, joints, muscles and nerves, associated with inflammation, swelling and muscular stiffness. Churna/Podi means a mixture of fine powder made of different medicinal herbs. Pinda/Khizi means a cotton bolus & Sweda means Fomentation. Churna pinda sweda is thus described as a swedana karma (fomentation therapy) which is given by using a pinda (cotton bolus) that contains the mixture (churna) of different medicinal herb. It is one of the most common and effective Ayurvedic therapy involving full body massage while using these cotton boluses, dipped in medicated oils for fomentation of the whole body/ affected areas. It is effective in treating neuro-muscular diseases and binging back the natural body balance.
